Highlights

  • The Inaugural Game: On October 14, 2022, ASU opened Mullett Arena with a 2–0 shutout win over Colgate, Josh Doan scoring the first goal.

  • Home Ice Advantage: The intimate, high-energy environment quickly became one of the toughest places to play in college hockey, with the Sun Devils recording 11 wins at the "Mullett" in its debut season

  • Upsetting the Best: Beyond the opening night win against North Dakota, ASU took down No. 2 Minnesota in a thrilling 6–5 overtime victory on November 26, one of the most high-scoring and dramatic games in program history.
  • Josh Doan: In his final season before turning pro, Doan led the team with 16 goals and provided essential leadership as the program’s youngest captain.

  • TJ Semptimphelter: The transfer from Northeastern was a workhorse in net, starting nearly every game and finishing the season with 1,024 saves—ranking among the national leaders in total stops.

  • Coach Powers' Century Mark: On January 27, 2023, Greg Powers earned his 100th NCAA head coaching win with a 4-0 shutout of St. Thomas.
  • The "Mullett" Sellouts: The transition from the 700-seat Oceanside to the 5,000-seat Mullett Arena was a massive success, with the inaugural game against Colgate selling out in minutes.
