The Crown Jewel: The highlight of the season came in January 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. ASU claimed the inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational championship, the program's first tournament win at the D1 level.
Physical Presence: Players like Tyler Busch and Anthony Croston solidified the "hard to play against" identity that Greg Powers wanted for the program, combining for over 100 penalty minutes while playing heavy, defensive minutes.
Johnny Walker’s Arrival: The Phoenix native made an immediate impact as a freshman, finishing the season with 17 points (including 12 goals). His grit and scoring ability quickly made him a fan favorite.
Joey Daccord: Recorded his first career NCAA shutout Jan. 13, 2018 at Oceanside ice rink against UMass-Lowell.
Brinson Pasichnuk: The sophomore defenseman continued his rise as a premier blueliner, leading the team in scoring with 26 points (8G, 18A).
Overtime Gritty ties: The Sun Devils proved difficult to beat at home, grinding out ties against powerhouses like Quinnipiac and Colorado College.
